For this my last group of photos I have chosen Mont Saint Michel situated off the coast of Normandy about a four-hour drive from Paris. (Note: this is not the Mount Saint Michael off Cornwell, England)
This is one of France’s most popular tourist attractions and in the summer you can hardly move because there are so many visitors.
Ah but to visit off-season is the secret. We visited late December. Then you can feel the architectural glory or the Abbey as the Benedictine monks did long ago. It is a peaceful place with the wind whistling around. The surrounding area of marsh lands are also of great beauty and if you are a bird watcher you will be enthralled by the species who inhabit the area. However do not try to walk these areas as the sand is said to have the qualities of quick sand and it could cost you for life!
We have loved Jacqui’s snapshots of life in France. We hope you have too. Please feel free to leave a comment for her.
