The cheer will hang in the air.

I had not planned to write again this year, however in the light of the tragic events in Newtown Connecticut I find my thoughts have moved to other aspects of Christmas. As the end of the year draws near we find ourselves busy with preparations for seasonal celebrations. We hang decorations and plan meals. We gather gifts and organise activities. We might be travelling away from home or welcoming guests into our home. In short we are busy busy busy. Dad’s silver, mum’s white.

When I was born, 3 weeks late and in the lift (elevator) my parents were what was termed older parents. Especially my father. I have no memory of my father with brown hair only with shiny silver locks. And there are very few Photographs. Most of the pictures of him are with cigarette in hand. A habit that would last many many decades. Rather amazingly October has rolled around already, this year seems to be progressing very very quickly. Here at A String of Pearls we are about to resume normal broadcasting, so to speak.
