Today we are re-meeting Diane. Diane had a dream. She launched into her dream and has now substantially built upon what we discussed last time around. Today we are going to find out how Diane’s Dream developed.

*If you are reading this in an email, please click the title above to come to the site for the full interview plus wonderful photos PLUS how to contact Diane online.

Diane it is so good to meet with you, to be able to catch up again. It’s been a year or so since we last met.

Would you please give a brief over-view about the exciting things in your life?

  • More than doubled user base reaching over 70,000 worldwide
  • Innovated product to include a gamification system and created a new postcard offering.
  • Obtained trademark for PhotoPad and Virtual Gestures from the US Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Received the “2012 Leading Moms in Business” award.
  • Featured in 116 media outlets around the world, including The Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicles, United Press International, and International Business Times, and Yahoo News.

Tell us about the transition to photo pad – what caused this?

I changed the name to PhotoPad after we obtained the trademark and because this name encompasses what the company is about.

Was this part of your original vision? How do you feel about this growth?

It was always our vision to move in this direction and have PhotoPad as our main focus.

So, right now you are in a good place?

Yes, I’m very excited about the growth we have had and about the progress we are making.

Could you share with us how photo pad might be used by a business…

PhotoPad may be used by businesses as it offers 3 main benefits:

  • Inspirational & Unique: PhotoPad is a creative marketing platform allowing companies to use photos to share their story, show appreciation, highlight successes, feature products and services, and much more.
  • Affordable: PhotoPad is a free application which sits inside of Facebook and, therefore, allows companies to reach existing and prospective customers effectively and affordably.
  • Easy to use: PhotoPad’s photo sharing tool is easy to use and provides quick templates and embellishments allowing companies to be efficient in their marketing efforts.

What about an organization? Can you give us an actual example?

A local running group – Serious About Fitness/Serious About Running, Redmond Athletic Club in Redmond WA  has opted in to use PhotoPad to share their story. The simple photo “post/comment” structure limits the level of communication. PhotoPad allows a much deeper and richer level of sharing through the use of storytelling. They highlight their successes, their time together, and their efforts in supporting causes using inspirational photo books. Using PhotoPad, they capture and collectively share their story of friendship and bonding.

What Now?  Work on communicating the benefits for businesses and organization to use PhotoPad  to visually share their story!

How about for you personally?  My goal is to continue my passion and charitable work helping children heal from abuse and neglect through raising awareness in the community and fundraising.

Diane, this is so important,  given your experience,

what would you tell other women who have a dream?

Starting a business is like maneuvering through a maze – when you hit a road block, don’t lose sight, keep going and find another path to that opening of success. “I believe that anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do, provided he keeps doing them until he gets a record of successful experience behind him.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

And why do you think women are so entrepreneurial?

Women’s involvement in the work force has increased over the years, while we continue to be the primary caretakers of children. Our exposure to a diversity of experiences is great. As a result, we constantly look for ways to be more efficient as we balance the different roles we have.

Lastly:

What worries you? Repeating mistakes made.

What makes you laugh? Old Photos of myself! I am not sure what I was thinking in the 80’s!

What are you grateful for? I’m grateful for the support in my life, the family and friends who support me personally and professionally.

What do you daydream about? Success
